Backbone-related activity
Driving through Providence this weekend, I noticed this towering over route 95:
It's hard to imagine that this is the most effective way to spend campaign dollars, but it unquestionably exhibits cajones.
Carl Sheeler is challenging Lincoln Chafee, and I know nothing about the race or Sheeler's prospects, but that billboard certainly gets some attention.

It'll be interesting to see if Sheeler's campaign strategy gets traction. The design work looks great, professional etc.
Wish the approach would work against the more rabid Republicans--Chaffee, from what I understand, is sort of moderate and not necessarily among the worst of them.
Chafee (looks like i mis-spelled it in the post) is definitely good as far as republicans go. He even threatened to bail on the party in 2001. But I think when the shit hits the fan even the moderates from the northeast have to toe the line.
So even if it's not realistic to unseat him, it's good to be fielding candidates. And it doesn't matter how rabid the rest of them are if we can get a lock on Congress. If the moderates are easier targets, let's take them out first.
Thanks for the post.
The tough question to ask is do we want our elected officials to have the cajones to take on the folks who bring us a war and alter our future and the future of our kids?
